Mumm Petit Cordon
A modern sparkling wine
Winemaker Jamie Marfell and his winemaking team have released Petit Cordon: a unique New Zealand Sparkling Wine, created in collaboration with Didier Mariotti, Chef de Caves if Champagne’s renowned Maison Mumm. With time-honoured expertise; at once celebrating the traditional methods of Champagne with Malborough’s world-famous vineyards.
The final blend combines the elegant freshness of Chardonnay with the strength and intensity of Pinot Noir grapes, which were all hand-picked from the best New Zealand terroirs. The use of carefully selected reserve wines and extended lees ageing of more than 18 months gives the wine complexity and an intensity.
Petit Cordon has refreshing notes of citrus fruits, grapefruit and blood orange. On the palate white fruits (pears) and yellow fruits (apricot, peach, mirabelle) dominate, with a few discreet notes of ripe fruits and hints of honey and pastry shining through.
